The ever talented Michel Gondry made a film called ‘Be Kind, Rewind’ about two video store owners (Jack Black and Mos Def) who accidentally wipe all the videos in their store and have to remake them all using their home video equipment. In the movie, these ‘new’ movies become so popular that the store owners have to tell their waiting customers that the movies come from Sweden – hence why they’re so expensive and so late to turn up. Thanks to the wonders of internet culture this has led to the term ‘sweded‘ to describe a video re-make of a Hollywood movie by fans, for fans.
